If you’re looking for one of the best views on Koh Tao, Top Point is a must. This giant cliff right above Dusit Buncha Resort offers stunning views of Koh Nan Yuan and the surrounding turquoise waters.
Although there is a concrete access road that takes you to the viewpoint, it is incredibly steep, so I would recommend hiking from Dusit Buncha instead; here’s everything you need to know to make the most of this scenic hike.

How to get to Top Point Trailhead
The Top Point trail is just an unnamed and unmarked road just before Dusit Buncha Resort, about 5 minutes (1.1 miles) north of Sairee on Sairee Road 7-11 and continue this route through palm forests, passing several villas and hotels along the way.
Be careful because the turn is easy to miss. look for a small road on the right about 100 meters before the Dusit Buncha Resort motorcycle parking lot. If you reach the steep descent to the resort entrance, you’ve gone too far; just turn around.
The road to Top Point doesn’t seem very steep at first, but it gets very steep. The signs at the start can be confusing, some advise against motorbikes, while others say bikes are allowed. Be careful , as the path becomes slippery and difficult.
I recommend leaving your bike at the bottom and walking up, as the road gets steeper as you go. There are also flat sections along the switchbacks where you can leave your bike. About 2/3 of the way up is manageable by scooter , if you are sure.
Hint: This trail also leads to two other overlooks, Grape View and my favorite, Grandfather Rock Lagoon (abandoned but great spot) You can easily continue to both after visiting Top Point if you want to explore more.
My experience hiking to the top of Koh Tao
We started the hike around 10am and it was already hot, definitely one to get ready for.
The road is deceptive at first, starting with a gentle incline but soon twists into a steep climb. There is quite a bit of rubbish at the bottom, probably from nearby buildings and hotels, although it’s worth noting that it doesn’t seem to be from the owners of Top Point Lookout.
As we climbed, the buildings faded and soon it was just us, dense jungle and huge boulders along the concrete road.
After a short 20-25 minutes of walking, we finally reached the big stone standing on the side of the road.
There is a small bamboo bar at the base and a bamboo deck built for a panoramic view.At the top there is an employee who collects the 100 THB entrance fee and gives you a cold drink (Gatorade, juice or water included, but no beer).
It’s a steep, sweaty climb, definitely a good workout, but so worth it for the views.
View from Top Point
Top Point is one of the best views of Koh Nan Yuan you can get on Koh Tao, with a clear, elevated view of the famous sandbars and bright turquoise water. You can also see all of Sairee Beach and Mae Haad on the left. on
The bamboo deck gives you some shade and with the ocean spreading around you, it feels like you’re right on top of Koh Tao.The place is peaceful too, if you time it right you can even have it all to yourself like we did :
We ended up spending about an hour here just enjoying the view and watching the clouds roll by.
I hope you enjoyed this quick Koh Tao hiking guide to Top View.
