20 Best Waterfalls Bali Ubud
20 Best Waterfalls Bali Ubud. Ubud is mostly known for its temples and cultural attractions, but there are also a number of beautiful waterfalls near Ubud.
Many of the best waterfalls in Ubud are located in the nearby Gianyar and Bangli regions of Bali, but most of them can be reached in less than 30 minutes by car from Ubud city center, so they are still quite easy to visit.
A bit of hiking may be necessary depending on the falls, but some are accessible for all ages.
Here’s our complete guide to the best waterfalls in Ubud and surrounding areas.
Guide to Ubud Waterfalls
1. Waterfall service
This is one of the best waterfalls in Ubud because it is very easy to visit. Layana is only a 10-minute drive from the center of Ubud.
As an added bonus, there is a warung at the top of this Ubud waterfall where you can have lunch while enjoying the view, but this is completely optional, you don’t need to book anything to visit the waterfall.
Although Layana is not one of the largest waterfalls in Bali, it wins the award as the most accessible Ubud waterfall.
2. Tibumana Falls
Tibumana used to be a secret waterfall, but it has exploded in the past few years and is now where every Instagrammer comes in. It’s still worth a visit.
The road to this one winds through some green rice paddies and palm trees, so it’s a great scenic drive, and there are a few small waterfalls you can see nearby as well.
3. Taman Sari waterfall
Just 500 meters from the Tibumana entrance is a separate road that leads to Taman Sari Falls.
Also called Pengibul Falls, it’s a small 2-step cascade with no crowds and you can reach it by walking for 5-10 minutes, so it’s definitely worth checking out when you’re in Tibumana.
4. Letter waterfall
This waterfall is a hidden gem near Gianyar and Ubud. It’s good for swimming and there’s even a neat little bamboo raft you can paddle on.
The hike to Suwat Falls is short and easy and takes you through a small bamboo forest and other tropical foliage along the way.We think it’s one of the most beautiful waterfalls Ubud has to offer.

5. Goa Rang Reng Waterfall
Beware of the slippery rocks Goa Rang Reng has 3 different waterfalls but my favorite is the first one, a large sloping cascade that looks like a natural Slip N’ Slide.
6. Corner lamp waterfall
Kanto Lampo is a cascade of waterfalls cascading over the rocks into a natural pool below. As an added bonus, you can see some unusual petroglyphs on the nearby mossy walls.
The water is shallow enough for kids (it was knee high when we went in August), although if you go a little further upriver it gets deeper (chest high). This is definitely one of the best waterfalls in Ubud.
7. Anyar waterfall
This is a beautiful multi-tiered waterfall that just opened to the public in 2020.
We were apparently two of the first visitors when we stumbled upon it on the way to another waterfall.
Uma Anyar Falls has a beautiful upper waterfall where you can take a natural shower, plus a lower cascade on the river where you can swim and relax when the water is calm (but I wouldn’t recommend it during the rainy season).
It has an easily accessible path and is close to Ubud, so it’s great to visit ( GPS here ).
8. Sumampani Falls
This is another little-known waterfall near Ubud where you can escape the crowds.
Sumampani Falls flows directly into the river and is surrounded by jungle vines and modern Balinese petroglyphs that look ancient.
It’s easy to get to from the car park with a short walk through the palm forest and then down one steep flight of steps.
9. Tegenungan waterfall
Tegenungan is the busiest and most touristy waterfall in Bali, don’t go here to escape the crowds, but it’s still a good place for lunch and chances are you’ll pass by it at some point anyway.
It only takes 15 minutes to go down the steps to the falls, but the way back is a good workout with lots of moisture and uneven stone steps that look like they were made for giants.
The height of the waterfall is about 30 meters and on a nice day you can swim in the pool under the waterfall. On a sunny day you can even see a big rainbow.

10. Gria Waterfall badge
Beji Gria is a very unusual temple and waterfall near Ubud that just opened in 2022, although the carvings near the waterfall make things look much older. It’s a 30-minute drive west of Ubud.
Be warned that this is one of the most expensive waterfalls (or temples) we have visited in Bali. They charged us 100k per person for the most basic entrance ticket. You can also pay extra to attend a Balinese Hindu ceremony at the waterfall : We didn’t do it, but we noticed that the price was 200 thousand rupees per person.
Anyway, Beji Griya waterfall was beautiful and we enjoyed the mysterious carvings on the rock walls, which were really well done. I don’t know if we will come again, but it was worth at least one visit. It is definitely one of the most unique waterfalls in Ubud that we have seen.
11. Master of the waterfall
It’s a small waterfall, but it’s only 30 minutes west of Ubud. It’s hidden in a half-cave, just a 5-minute walk from the parking lot.
They may not be the most spectacular falls, but the hike is very easy, no one is around, and it’s completely free.
12. Goa Giri Campuhan Waterfall
Bangli area has many great waterfalls and it is not far from Ubud. Start with Goa Giri Campuhan waterfall in the north. This is hidden and you have to sneak through some cool caves to get to it.
13. Tukad Cepung waterfall
This is a unique looking waterfall hidden at the end of a cave-like gorge.
Tukad Cepung used to be a hidden waterfall, but nowadays it can be very crowded and you may have to wait your turn to take decent photos.
It’s still a beautiful waterfall to visit from Ubud and I’ve seen some amazing pictures taken here.

14. Goa Raja Waterfall
This is a recently discovered hidden gem just a short distance from Tukad Tsepong. The hike is quite short but the road still needs a bit of work.
Goa Raja is quite easy to reach from Ubud and it has a large waterfall inside a cave as the name suggests (Raja of Goa means “royal cave” in Indonesian).
There is even a small natural pool to swim in. Overall, we actually liked this waterfall more than Tukad Cepung, and there were certainly far fewer tourists.
15. Ye Bulan waterfall
Yeh Bulan is a newly accessible waterfall since 2023 and is one of the largest waterfalls near Ubud.
To get to this one, you have to go down a bunch of concrete steps, cross a bamboo bridge, and then wade through ankle-deep water in a shallow stream.
At the end of the hike there is a natural pool for swimming and a large waterfall with several cascades. It is so worth it!
16. Manuaba Falls
This is a short drive near Ubud with two beautiful waterfalls that are still undiscovered by tourism.
The first waterfall in Manuaba is smaller and can be reached by walking for about 10-15 minutes. You have to go down the long concrete steps. The first waterfall is a bit rough and there is no place to swim.
The second waterfall is more beautiful and can be reached by another 15-20 minute hike. The road to the second waterfall is still unmarked and can be confusing, so you can ask the locals to point you in the right direction. The second waterfall is worth the short hike. and you can swim there if you want.
17. Kuning waterfall
It’s a unique looking waterfall and swimming hole at the bottom of a large canyon in the jungle. It’s a steep walk down, but you can cool off in the natural pools below.
18. Leke Leke waterfall
This one is a bit harder to get to than the others as it’s a 1 hour drive from Ubud, but that means no crowds.
Leke Leke is a unique looking waterfall near Bedugul. It was a secret until recently, but it is becoming more popular.
19. Campuhan Antapan waterfall
This is a unique looking waterfall very close to Leke Leke. It is still a secret and very easy to reach from the road.
20. Nungnung Falls
Nunnung is one of the largest and most powerful waterfalls in Bali. It is a huge waterfall in the jungle with tons of mist flying in all directions. Nunnung is located just north of Lek Lek Falls.
